Q: What is Modal, MicroModal?

A: Modal is an regenerated cellulose fiber from Austria Lenzing, its raw material is extracted from the European beech wood. To make it into pulp, then process it into fibers through special spinning process. Modal products have good flexibility and excellent moisture absorption, but poor stiffness. We often used modal 40s. Micro-modal is a step upgrade from regular Modal also from Austria Lenzing. The products that produced with Micro-modal are obviously finer and lighter, and feel like a "second skin". We often use Micro-modal 50s, 60s, 80s when manufacturing our products.

 

Q: What is Supima?

A: Supima is the world's finest cottons, Supima is a non-profit organization of American Pima cotton growers whose main objective is to promote the use of American Pima cotton around the world and is involved in quality assurance and research programs. The used of the trademark "Supima®" is strictly controlled by the grower organization, only authorized company with high quality products can use Supima® trademark to promote their own Supima products.
1) A Longer Staple Length
The staple length of Supima is 35% longer than regular cottons. This increases softness and luster. Fewer fiber ends are exposed, minimizing the effects of abrasion resulting in less pilling.
2) A Stronger Fiber
Supima is up to 45% stronger than regular cottons. This makes Supima products extraordinarily resilient. Even lighter-weight Supima fabrics are incredibly durable, without compromising drape and comfort.
3) A Vibrant Fiber
Supima absorbs and retains color better than regular cottons. This means that Supima products retain their brilliance over many years of use.

 

Q: What is Combed Cotton?

A: Combed cotton is an extremely soft version of cotton made by specially treating the cotton fibers before they are spun into yarn.  When cotton is combed, fine brushes are used to pull out any remaining impurities, along with short cotton fibers, leaving behind only long, straight fibers which are even and aligned. The texture of combed cotton is softer, stronger, and less pilling. Over all, Combed Cotton is much better than conventional cotton.

 

Q: What is the unit S?

A: S is the count of yarn, it gives an estimation of how thick or thin a yarn is, regardless of its length. It means that the number of yarns of 840 yards length required weighing one pound. For example, a 30 count yarn means you need 30 yarns of 840 yards length to make it one pound weight. Higher the count of a yarn is, finer the yarn. For example, a 40’s yarn is two times finer than a 20’s yarn.

 

Q: What is the unit D?

A: Denier is a unit of measurement that is used to determine the fiber thickness of individual yarn. Denier also acts as a unit of weight. The standard for computing the weight is to weigh 9,000 meters of yarn that will be used to create a product. The higher the numbers of grams per 9,000 meters of yarn, the higher the denier count. Fabrics with a high denier count tend to be thick, sturdy, and durable. Fabrics with a low denier count tend to be sheer, soft, and silky.

A: Spandex is a synthetic fabric with elasticity. The fabric is able to expand up to 600%-700% and spring back without losing its integrity. Spandex was developed by Dupont in 1958 for commercial use, and become one of the most well-known brands of spandex called Lycra.
